What if I cannot attend a meeting?

If a member cannot attend a meeting they or their parents should send their regrets to a co-chair and to ensure their money gets recieved they can do any of the following:

1. Arrange a drop off with any of the committee members before the meeting. The committee can only count the votes of the members who are present at the meeting;

2. Members can send their money with another member the night of the meeting in marked envelope with their name and contact information; or

3. If a member does not attend a meeting they are still expected to honour their $10 commitment. The $10 commitments must be up to date to remain in good standing with your membership.

The charity and non-profit organization nomination forms are only sent to registered members and/or their parents by email six weeks before every meeting. The nomination form is not published publicly and is only available to registered members and/or their parents. How did 100 Youth Who Care CBRM get started?

The CBRM chapter was first annouced in November 2014 at a 100 Women Who Care CBRM meeting. We wanted to create an opportunity for youth to improve the lives of their neighbours and help serve the local community.

If you have not recieved your confirmaiton please contact us immediately. Our Facebook and Twitter pages will also be updated regularly. If you change your contact email address, please notify the committee immedately by sending us an email. Should you wish to quit your membership at any time, please send an email indicating that you no longer wish to participate. If you are unable to attend a meeting and did not submit your $10 ahead of time, you will recieve an email reminder and offer you the option to have your name removed from the membership list for the next meeting. This is a standard procedure and if you chose to remove your name, you can rejoin at any other time.

What should you expect at a meeting?

You will be greeted by a volunteer and asked to sign in at the registration desk.  We like to keep track of our member's attendance as you come in so we can coordinate donations more quickly at the end of the meeting. Parents of children under the age of 12 will be asked to stay with their child. There will be photos taken at each meeting, if you don't want your or your child's photo published on our social media or website please tell one of our volunteers.

Which charitable organizations are eligible for consideration by the group?

In order to be considered at a meeting, the organization/charity must be based in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. It must be a registered non-profit or charitable organization eligible to provide tax receipts for donations. It must be previously estavlished for at least one full calendar year. No national or international charities, programs or organizations will be considered at this time, because we are currently focused on contributing to our local community. An charity or non-profit that was selected as the donation recipent may not be considered again for five years. The exception is for a specific program within a larger organization and the donation would only be used for the faciliation of that program. Members nominate a charitable organization for consideration upon registering to join. Nominations are entered into a draw and three are randomly selcted and vetted prior to the event. Representatives from each charity or non-profit are asked to make a five minute presentation at the meeting and then our members will vote on who they want the donation to be awarded to. The charity or non-profit with the greatest amount of votes is the recipient of funds and is removed from the selection process for the next five years.

Can I send the donation to the charity myself?

No. The goal of 100 Youth Who Care CBRM is to make a large donation on behald of the whole group. We want to be able to support this endeavour and give a large donation at one time to help the community. The objective of coming together as a group is to highlight the power of joining forces and working toward achieving one common goal of creating a stronger community for everyone to live, work and play. We also need to be able to track your donations so that you can get credit for your donation and remain an active member.

How long will the meetings last?

We will be meeting four times a year for 45 to 60 minutes.
